Our festival finale plans are really coming together now. Artist Tom Meskell has created a specially commissioned large scale lantern sculpture for the event, and we have been running lantern making workshops during the summer, as well as two workshops this weekend, so that people can create their own lanterns to bring along on the night.
On the night itself ie SUNDAY 2 NOVEMBER, everyone is invited to join us in Newport Playground by the river (assembling from 6pm) The lantern walk will commence at 6:30pm, up to the iconic Newport viaduct, and from there we will walk with our lanterns up Castlebar Street, and up the steps to St Patricks Church, where the legendary KILA will perform.
The Lantern Walk is free and open to all. The Concert is free for those with Dark Sky Festival tickets AND children under 16. Tickets for adults NOT attending other festival events are €20 and can be purchased on this website - or at the door on the night.
