Dr. Tyler Nordgren is a professional astronomer and artist. He holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy from Cornell University. For over a decade he has worked with the U.S. National Park Service on astronomy education and outreach to the public through national parks. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the International Dark Sky Association and written two books on night skies, "Stars Above, Earth Below" and solar eclipses, "Sun Moon Earth". As an artist, his vintage-style astronomical “travel posters” are on sale in national parks all across the U.S. His artwork has been acquired by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington DC, appeared at NASA Headquarters and the White House where he designed the poster for President Obama’s final White House Astronomy Night and on Mars, where he collaborated on Martian sundials siting on NASA's Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity rovers.
