About the Event...
Our annual festival was established in 2016 to celebrate Ireland's first Dark Sky Park. It is held in the towns and villages surrounding Mayo Dark Sky Park - Newport, Mulranny and Ballycroy.
The 3 day event includes formal talks on themes of astronomy, biodiversity and culture, as well as a planetarium, seashore safari, art exhibitions and musical performances

Friday Opening Ballycroy
This ticket gives you entry to the festival opening event, starting at 7pm on Fri 31 Oct 2025 in Ballycroy Visitor Centre. The evening includes the official festival opening, a performance by special musical guest Emer Mayock, finger food and, weather permitting, some stargazing and a guided dark sky walk. Schedule: 19:00 | welcome & official opening of festival 19:15 | musical entertainment 20:00 | refreshments 20:30 | dark sky walk / stargazing

This ticket is for entry to the performance by KILA, which takes place at 7pm on Sun 2 Nov 2025 in St. Patrick’s Church Newport. Schedule: 18:00 | assemble in Playground for Lantern Walk 18:30 | Lantern Walk to church 19:00 | Concert by Kila PLEASE NOTE – Festival ticket holders (ie those with 1-day, 2-day or Early Bird tickets) DO NOT NEED to purchase a ticket, as admission to the concert for festival ticket holders is FREE. CHILDREN under 16 are also FREE – no booking necessary!

The Lego Workshop takes place Sat 1 Nov 2025 at 12 noon in the Mulranny Arts Centre studio. This fun, one hour workshop is run by Mixies Brixies, and is aimed at children from the age of 6 - 12. As the workshop is limited to twenty participants, we ask people to reserve places for their children to avoid disappointment. There is a small charge of €5 per child.

The Seashore Safari takes place Sun 2 Nov 2025 at 10am on Mulranny Beach. There is no entry fee, but there is a small registration fee of €2 pp as numbers are strictly limited for safety reasons. PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS NOT WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY, and also NOT ADVISED FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES
