Gretta Byrne
Gretta Byrne is an archaeologist and the manager of the award-winning Céide Fields Visitor Centre in County Mayo. With years of experience in heritage interpretation and site management, she brings deep knowledge of one of Ireland’s most extraordinary archaeological landscapes. In her role, Gretta not only oversees the day-to-day running of the centre but also works to make the story of the Céide Fields accessible and engaging for visitors from around the world.
Her expertise lies in connecting the scientific discoveries of archaeology with the lived experiences of the people who shaped this ancient landscape more than 5,000 years ago. Through talks, exhibitions, and public engagement, she highlights the international significance of the Céide Fields as the oldest known field systems in the world and an enduring window into early farming communities.
