FAMILY EVENTS at the festival

We thought you would like a synopsis of the family-friendly events at the 2022 Mayo Dark Sky Festival 4 - 6 November. ..

(NB children should be accompaned by an adult for all events)

SATURDAY

  • Seashore Safari at Mulranny Beach 10:00. FREE EVENT, no booking necessary (please note the new time for this event, dictated by tide times)

  • Planetarium Shows in the mobile StarDome located in Newport National School school hall - at 11:30, 12:30 and 15:30. FREE EVENTS, no booking necessary

  • Guided Walk in Ballycroy Visitor Centre at 14:00 - FREE EVENT, no booking necessary

SUNDAY

  • Planetarium Shows in the mobile StarDome located in Newport National School school hall - at 11:30, 12:30 and 15:30, FREE EVENTS, no booking necessary

  • NEW! Silk Puppet Workshop in Mulranny Arts Centre (Places are very strictly limited to 10 children and must be pre-booked online). Children will get to make a silk hand puppet and then participate in the 3pm Puppet Show. The Workshop starts at 13:30. The price is €10 per child - accompanying adults go free (all materials supplied).

  • NEW! Puppet Show in Mulranny Arts Centre 15:00. Michael and Veronica of Miracle Puppets will bring their large cast of characters to llfe with a FREE puppet show. The show is FREE - no pre-booking necessary, but seating is limited to 50 at the venue, so entry will be on a first come, first served basis.

  • Guided Walk in Ballycroy Visitor Centre at 14:00 - FREE EVENT, no booking necessary.

Of course, children are also welcome to come to any of the formal talks in Newport and Mulranny, and entry to talks is FREE for children under 16 (no booking necessary for children, adults should book their tickets online)
